The main goal of the Museo Interactivo Mirador in Santiago de Chile is to become “The main science laboratory for scholars.”
Their statement:
“For many people their visit to the MIM will be the only contact with science they will have in their lives.”
A visit to the MIM is a common students’ field trip and the museum aims to support the teachers' labor.
To support their goal and after researching app solutions designed for similar museums abroad, I developed the information architecture, flowcharts and UI/UXDesign of an app for teachers and students. The app enhances their visit before, during and after it occurs. Teachers can plan the visit in advance and assign tasks. Students can use the app to go through the museum, completing the assigned tasks, interacting with their classmates, earning points and then exchanging them for prizes. Gamifying the visit increases the engagement and retention of the students. After the visit, teachers can review how their students did with their tasks and students can share pictures of the tour on social networks.
